Two men, 33, arrested over suspicious activity in Armagh

Two men have been arrested over suspicious activity in Armagh on Saturday morning.

The PSNI said officers received a report from a couple in the Loughgall Road area of the town just before 6.15am, who believed that intruders had tried to enter their property.

It was reported that two males were outside the house, one of whom was leaning over their vehicle.

Inspector Rocks said: “Police attending this incident observed a silver Ford van being driven erratically nearby. Officers signalled to the driver to stop and, when it came to a halt, the passenger ran off.

“Within the van, we found tools including an angle grinder, as well as catalytic converters.

“The 33-year-old driver, who matched the description previously supplied, was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including the attempted theft of a vehicle and handling stolen goods.

“The second man, also aged 33, was arrested in the area a number of hours later. He was located with the help of our Dog Section. Both remain in custody at this time.

“Our enquiries continue, and I’m appealing to anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious activity to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 366 of 20/11/21.”
