Two Manchester United goalkeepers could still leave on loan

Manchester United could still loan out reserve goalkeepers Matej Kovar and Nathan Bishop amid their intention on recruiting a back-up 'keeper.

Kovar and Bishop agreed on loan moves to League One teams Cheltenham Town and Wycombe Wanderers but are still at United, who involve four goalkeepers in first-team training.

Bishop, 22, is understood to be the likelier to leave having spent the entirety of last season at Mansfield Town. Kovar, also 22, has had half-season loans with Swindon Town and Burton Albion in recent campaigns.

Kovar travelled with the United first-team squad to Brentford last week while Bishop started in the Under-21s' 2-2 draw with Everton on Friday.

United considered moves for Karl Darlow and Daniel Bachmann earlier in the summer but Darlow only emerged as an option when Newcastle attempted to sign Dean Henderson, now on loan at Nottingham Forest. Bachmann is now first choice at Watford.

United's goalkeeping situation has already come under scrutiny amid David de Gea's errors in the defeats to Brighton and Brentford. De Gea has been backed up by Tom Heaton, who expected to be the second-choice goalie when he re-signed for United last year.

De Gea is contracted to United until next year but the club has the option of an additional year, while Henderson is tied to the club until 2025 at the minimum. Forest do not have an option to sign Henderson.

England international Henderson, 25, said it was "criminal" he only played three times for United last season and did not train under new manager Erik ten Hag as "I knew he’d probably want to keep me".
