Two hospitalised after horror crash which left car upside down in Portmarnock, Dublin

A young girl and a woman have been hospitalised following a frightening crash in north Dublin this morning which left a car upside down against a tree.

Gardai responded to the single vehicle collision at around 9am on the Old Road in Portmarnock (R124).

The road was closed for a time as gardai cleared the scene.

Both of the people involved taken to hospital as a precaution, Dublin Live reports.

A Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 9am on Old Road, Portmarnock (R124) today Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

"A woman and a female youth were taken to hospital as a precaution. The road has since re-opened."

In a separate incident earlier on Wednesday morning, a pedestrian was rushed to hospital following a car collision in west Dublin.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision at around 8am on the Blanchardstown Road North over the N3.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A Garda spokesman said: "We attended the scene of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on the Blanchardstown Road North on 29 January 2020 at approximately 8am.

"One person injured and taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigations are ongoing."
