Two dogs found dead after fire in Northumberland holiday lodge

Two dogs have been found dead after a fire at a holiday park in Northumberland.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service were called to a log cabin after a blaze broke out at Felmoor Park, Felton at around 1.30am on Saturday morning.

Crews arrived at the scene and at one point, four fire engines using a hose reel and three jets were tackling the blaze.

All the occupants in the lodge were outside of the cabin when crews arrived but two people needed medical attention.

Firefighters searching the scene then found that two dogs had died during the incident.

Crews remain on scene on Saturday morning and an investigation is under way.

A spokesperson for the Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service said: "Investigations are continuing after a fire at a Northumberland holiday park overnight.

"At 1.29am today (Saturday, May 29) Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service received a call to a log cabin on fire at Felmoor Park, Felton.

"At the height of the incident, four fire engines were tackling the blaze (3 from Pegswood and 1 from Amble), using one hose reel and three jets.

"Everyone was out of the cabin on arrival, but two occupants required medical attention.

"Sadly two dogs were found dead at the scene. One fire appliance from Pegswood remains at the scene and fire investigation work continues."
