Two Devon seafood restaurants scoop top five accolade in the whole of the UK

Two Devon seafood restaurants have secured a spot among the top five in the whole of Britain.

Announced by the Caterer magazine and Seafish industry authority, The Seahorse in Dartmouth and Rockfish in Brixham have been recognised in its Seafood Restaurant of the Year competition.

Both restaurants were founded by renowned chef Mitch Tonks, who lives in Brixham.

He said: “To have two restaurants recognised in the final top 5 for Seafood Restaurant of the Year is a testament to the amazing work that goes on in the restaurants every day; the people who cook, who serve, who manage, support and promote what I think is the best seafood in the world, here on the south coast.

"Hats off to them all because it is a brilliant achievement. Caterer is our industry voice and shouts about what we all do, together with Seafish who work hard to promote the consumption of our own seafood in the UK. It's great to be recognised as part of that initiative."

Brixham's Rockfish is in a unique location, right at the fish market which lands England’s most diverse catch. They also have a team who buy from the markets daily to prepare their fish for the restaurants.

The Seahorse, which has been in Dartmouth for 11 years, is small restaurant with its own bar and private dining room, and specialises in serving seafood.
