Delta passenger plane wing ripped off in collision with another jet at New York's LaGuardia Airport

The scene at LaGuardia airport following the low-speed crash - (CBS News)

Two passenger planes have collided on the runaway at LaGuardia Airport in New York.

The Delta planes were taxiing at low speed when the crash occurred on Wednesday night.

Video shows the wing on one of the planes detached in the collision.

Images taken in the aftermath shows the nose of one of the planes clearly damaged.

A LaGuardia Airport spokesperson told MailOnline one person was injured during the incident.

“A single person onboard one of the aircraft suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital as a precautionary measure,” the spokesperson said.

A CBS News producer said they were on board Delta Flight 5047 which had just landed from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) when the plane was struck by another Delta regional jet that was taxiing by.
