Two cars smashed up and one ends up on the pavement after crash in Newport

Two cars were involved in a crash near the Blaina Wharf pub in Newport.

The incident resulted in one of the cars ending up on the pavement, with a smashed up bumper.

Officers from Gwent Police, fire crews from Malpas and an ambulance crew were at the scene of the crash on the Southern Distributor Road.

One lane was closed off while the road was cleared - and traffic seemed to coped well.

A spokeswoman from Gwent Police said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision on East Dock Road, Newport, today shortly before 12.20pm.

"The collision involved two vehicles. Ambulance and fire service also in attendance."

Police added they currently have no information on any potential injuries.

South Wales Fire and Rescue also confirmed it had attended the incident.

Both vehicles were later taken away on the back of flatbed removal vans.
