Two cannabis dealers given chance by judge for four months

Two cannabis suppliers have been offered a deal of a different kind - to stay out of trouble, stop taking drugs and to keep in work.

The offer was made to Ellis Carey, 23, and Thomas Wilson, 22, when they appeared at Nottingham Crown Court to be sentenced.

Both men were due to be dealt with for the acquisition or possession of criminal property and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Wilson faced a charge alone of having MDMA (Ecstasy).

The court heard varying amounts of cannabis and more than £2,000 had been found in a Ford Focus in London Road, Nottingham, on Friday, February 9 last year.

Carey, of Bayswater Road, Kimberley, was the driver, and Wilson, of Gardendale Avenue, Clifton, a passenger.

A search of Wilson's home uncovered the MDMA - which a drugs expert concluded was consistent with personal use - and more cannabis.

Recorder David Herbert QC postponed sentencing both men until Friday, September 13.
