Two arrested after police car allegedly rammed during pursuit

Two men have been arrested following a reported police pursuit which began in Ballymena this morning.

Police say shortly after 11.30am on Sunday, they received reports that a grey Audi A4 car failed to stop for officers in the Springmount Road area, leading to the chase.

During this time, two officers in the police car sustained minor injuries after their vehicle was 'rammed a number of times' by the Audi before it was driven off from the scene.

Sergeant Hughes said: “The car was later found alight in the Carrowcrin Road area of Armoy shortly before 11:45am. Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

"Both men, aged 26 and 24 years old, were arrested a short time later on suspicion of various driving offences and are both currently assisting police with their enquiries.

"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who captured footage should contact police on 101, quoting reference 730 26/04/20."
