Two arrested after Dundee Police crackdown on anti-social bikers

Police in Dundee have arrested two more people in connection with anti-social bikers in the city.

Officers working as part of Operation Challenge carried out the raids at the end of last week.

On Friday they seized a distinctive red and black Sur Ron electric off-road bike worth more than £4,500 as well as a large quantity of controlled drugs.

Two 19-year-old men have since been charged with various road traffic and drugs offences and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed dedicated patrols will be continuing in a number of areas in relation to anti-social and illegal motor biking.

Operation Challenge has been running in Dundee for several years.

In the summer, bikers regularly caused significant damage to the Caird Park golf course course nearly every week.

It led to staff at the course wearing body cameras as they worked.

And just last month, visitors to Birkhill Cemetery were left distressed after youths on bikes and in cars damaged grassy areas around graves.

Police Scotland is now urging anyone with information of anti-social bikers to contact them on 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
