Scenery and quirky residents of Stirlingshire feature in a new series being shown on BBC ALBA.
Ramsay MacMahon returns with the fifth series of his ultimate Scottish getaways on BBC ALBA called ‘Mach a Seo! Let’s Go!’, which begins on November 4.
Programme five of the series, being shown on December 2, sees Ramsay travel to “the heart of Scotland”, Stirlingshire.
He climbs to the top of the Wallace Monument for panoramic views of the countryside and Stirling Castle before making a short trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park where he gets up close with Dot, the two tonne rhino, to give her a mud bath.
His accommodation for the night is a renovated ex-Royal Navy helicopter – and an evening beer in the cockpit slips down nicely after a long day on the road.
Ramsay said: “If lockdown and travel restrictions have taught us anything, they have given us a renewed appreciation of the benefits of ‘getting away from it all’.
“Whether it’s a long journey or just a short drive away it’s revitalising to leave the familiar behind to de-stress and re-connect with ourselves.
“The mental health benefits to being awe-inspired by spectacular Scottish landscape or thrilled by the adrenaline rush of high-speed or challenging outdoor activities, are manifold, as researched by Visit Scotland in January this year.”

The eight locations in the series are Skye, Crinan and Kilmartin, Aberdeenshire, North Mull and Ardnamurchan, Stirlingshire, the Black Isle, South Kintyre and Deeside and the Cairngorms.
Mach a Seo! Let’s Go! begins on Thursday, November 4 at 10pm on BBC ALBA and each episode is available on the BBC iPlayer.
