TV star-turned-author Susannah Constantine to discuss memoirs with Kay Adams at Lanarkshire Bookface group meeting

Stories of rock stars and royalty and sequins and Strictly will be on the agenda at Lanarkshire Bookface group's next exciting event.

Broadcaster and author Susannah Constantine will speak about her rollocking new memoir Ready for Absolutely Nothing during a 45-minute chat and Q&A session with popular Scottish TV presenter, and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Kaye Adams at Arta in Glasgow's Merchant City on December 3.

The celebration of Susannah's book launch will also see the the ex Trinny and Susannah show star sign copies of her work and meet with guests.

Bookface was founded by Coatbridge resident Heather Suttie, and has attracted 2300 members worldwide.

Heather says the latest literary gathering will give visitors a chance to choose from 400 books in a "sustainable swap".

She told Lanarkshire Live : "We’re thrilled to be hosting Susannah at the Sip and Swap event in Glasgow.

"I read her memoir in two sittings and gave it a five-star review. She will make a super guest and we expect tickets to fly out the door.

"Books bring us together and guests love the book swap as there are 400 titles to choose from.

"It’s a great way of saving money, living sustainably, picking up ‘new’ books, getting together with people who really love reading and hearing from talented storytellers like Susannah."

Now "60 and sober", Susannah was born into a life of privilege and the definition of the "it girl" - privately educated, vacationing at Balmoral with the Queen, posing for Patrick Lichfield on Mustique and hanging out in Mayfair’s posh private member’s clubs like Tramp and Annabel’s.

Her career in fashion PR took her to the US before she teamed up with Trinny Woodall where the successful duo told women the world over what not to wear.

Reality TV appearances saw her shine on Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity, and a side from the sequins and scorpions there was also the realisation that she had to get sober and change her life.

Susannah, already an accomplished author, said: "I love Scotland.

"I holiday there every year and my beloved nanny was Scottish as is Alistair Blair, a brilliant fashion designer who played a big part in my life when I started out in fashion working with John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld and Giorgio Armani.

"I’m thrilled to be coming to Scotland to celebrate the launch of my book."

Tickets for the Sip and Swap event with Susannah, which runs from 2pm to 4pm, cost £20 and are available here.

Ready for Absolutely Nothing is published by Michael Joseph and available from all good book shops.
