TV star says ‘energy healer’ lured her into wellness cult before psychotic breakdown

  • Game of Thrones and Skins star Hannah Murray has revealed she was hospitalised for 28 days under the Mental Health Act after experiencing a psychotic break, which she attributes to being lured into a wellness cult.
  • Murray was introduced to an "energy healer" named Grace in 2016 while filming Detroit , who exploited her vulnerability following a nude scene, leading her to ignore early warning signs about the healer's claims.
  • She subsequently paid £700 to another individual, Sioban, for courses such as Ritual Master Novice, Apprentice, and Magus Hermeticus, becoming addicted to the promise of healing from past hurts.
  • Following a five-day course led by a figure named Steve, Murray became exhausted and erratic, culminating in a mental break where she experienced hallucinations and heard voices, leading to her hospitalisation.
  • Murray's new memoir, The Make-Believe , set for release in summer 2026, will detail this "deeply personal story" about the "lure" of organisations promising wellness and preying on vulnerabilities.
