TV on DVD: 'The Deuce'; 'The Sinner'

THE DEUCE. Or, when 42nd Street was sleazy. This ultra-adult series charts New York's notorious '70s intersection of streetwalkers, pimps, massage parlors, nascent porn, gay nightlife, corrupt cops, the mob and more, as viewed through the acute lens of co-creator David Simon ("The Wire"). James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal star/produce, with Margarita Levieva, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Gary Carr, Michael Rispoli, David Krumholtz, Ralph Macchio. (HBO has ordered a second season.) Extras include brief making-ofs, pilot/finale commentaries. List price: $50 DVD+digital/$60 Blu-ray+digital, out this week from HBO.

THE SINNER. When young mom Jessica Biel murders someone without knowing why, Bill Pullman investigates in USA's twisty eight-episode summer thriller; $30, Universal.

MARTIN & LEWIS COLLECTION Dean and Jerry team for 28 episodes of '50s TV's "Colgate Comedy Hour," then go solo in '60s feature films (three each); $30 for 6 discs.
