TV blunder sees former Leeds United man become world's most expensive player

The money involved in the transfer market nowadays is out of control.

I mean, paying £200 million for Neymar? £140 million for Coutinho? It's hard to see any value in the game when every good player is moving for an absolute fortune.

Yet, if you think those transfer deals are bad, how about paying £750 million...for former Leeds man Sam Byram.

Yes, thanks to a TV blunder on Sky Sports News, it turns out that the former Leeds United full-back is now the most expensive player on the planet - and by some distance too.

Byram made a permanent move to Premier League side Norwich City this week, and Sky Sports News have the transfer down as a record-breaker.

That is 3.5 times as expensive as the previous record transfer, or, to put it into context, that could buy you 7.5 Cristiano Ronaldo's. Not bad, eh?

Check out the Sky Sports Blunder here:

Alas, the real transfer fee is sadly a much smaller £750,000.

If it were £750million and Leeds United had a sell-on clause, then reported transfers for Gianluigi Buffon and Francesco Totti might not have seemed so far-fetched after all.

Don't let it stop you dreaming though, we'll be signing Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi next!
