TV and radio host Aidan Power could be set to replace Eoghan McDermott as Doireann Garrihy’s new co-host on 2FM.
Power (42) recently revealed he was finished hosting his popular breakfast radio show on iRadio on May 1.
In an Instagram post, he wrote: “Goodbye iRadio. Thanks to each and everyone who listened and your beautiful messages. Time flies.”
It’s now rumoured Power could be the new breakfast radio co-host on 2FM with Doireann after McDermott’s sudden departure back in March.
RTE said at the time: “RTE confirms Eoghan McDermott will not be returning to RTE 2FM. His contract is due to expire shortly.
“RTE is developing a new direction for the 2FM Breakfast Show which will be revealed in the coming weeks. Doireann Garrihy will remain with the show.”
Fans coyly asked Power if he was moving to another station but the presenter remained tightlipped.
Meanwhile, Doireann has been hosting the breakfast show solo but recently revealed she was taking a break to “fine tune” some details of her new show.
She said: “At 9am this morning, I’m going to be leaving the studio and heading directly to what we like to call the 2FM radio idea factory.
“Which is basically just my desk in 2FM but the factory thing sounded cooler.
“And I’m going to be doing what you would do in a radio ideas factory, particularly the breakfast show department.
“I’m gonna be trialling, testing and fine tuning a brand new breakfast show.
“While I’m gone for a few weeks, Tara Stewart and Stephen Byrne are gonna be keeping you entertained.”
