Turkey scraps Covid travel restrictions ahead of summer holidays

Turkey has lifted all of its remaining Covid-19 entry restrictions - just in time for an expected influx of British holidaymakers this summer. From June 1 all Covid-19 rules around entry to the country were scrapped.

It means those arriving in Turkey will no longer need to present proof of their Covid vaccination or negative PCR test results.

The latest UK Government travel advice on entry to Turkey states: "As of 1 June, all COVID-19 restrictions in Turkey have been lifted, and passengers arriving in Turkey are no longer required to present proof of vaccination or negative PCR test results. However, COVID-19 entry requirements may change at short notice, you should check the specifics with your airline before you travel."

Previously, passengers had to submit their vaccination certificate for Covid jabs before entering the country. Those unable to submit proof of a vaccination were asked for a negative PCR or rapid antigen test result.

Turkey's national airline Turkish Airlines has also updated passengers to say the previous requirements "have been cancelled". It added: "Wearing a mask on international flights to Türkiye (Turkey) is at the passenger's discretion."
