TUI issues Covid vaccine warning for travellers with holidays or flights booked

TUI has sent out an important warning regarding Covid vaccination to travellers who have flights booked.

The tourism company has told customers to ensure they have physical proof that they have been vaccinated - otherwise they could be barred from entering their aircraft.

As reported by the Daily Record, it shared the warning in a new statement on its website, in which it also clarified that NHS passes are required to be dated from November 1.

Travellers who previously printed off a PDF of their vaccine confirmation have been asked by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to make sure that they obtain a fresh copy to avoid the risk of it not being accepted.

In a statement, TUI said: "The FCDO have advised that customers travelling to a number of destinations will need to ensure that any printed proof of their vaccination status needs to be dated from 1 November.

"We would advise any customers who have printed PDF copies of their NHS Covid Pass before 1 November to print a new copy to ensure it is accepted.

"Please note that holiday destinations have their own entry requirements which may vary, and we recommend that customers check the FCDO advice for the country they are travelling to."

It follows the FCDO's updated foreign travel advice on its website for all EU nations, plus all non-EU nations signed up to the EU’s vaccine passport scheme.

The latest advice states that all printed PDF proof of vaccine status must be dated from November 1 in order to be scanned successfully.

The FCDO stated on its website: "If you are travelling with a printed PDF proof of vaccination status, it must date from 1 November to ensure that the certificate can be scanned successfully.”

In Scotland, travellers must use the Covid Status App - the vaccine passport - when travelling abroad which has been recognised by the EU in in the EU Digital Covid Certificate (EUDCC).
