Furious mob chant 'beast out' as blind Scots paedophile carted out home by police
Police removed a blind paedophile from a property in East Kilbride after a vigilante mob gathered chanting 'get the beast out now'.
Officers were called to the street at 6pm on Monday night after a crowd had gathered demanding convicted pervert Guy Kibblewhite leave the area. The 58-year-old admitted to having hundreds of child sex abuse images on his phone and used a voice activation device to help him decipher them at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday last week.
He was caught when a delivery driver spotted a picture of a naked boy on his phone. He was placed on the sex offenders' register and bailed after sentencing was deferred.
Bin strikes to go ahead across Scotland TOMORROW after talks fail to produce pay deal
Large swathes of Scotland are facing overflowing bins after talks failed to halt further strikes.
Bin workers in around a dozen council areas, including Glasgow, will follow staff tomorrow in Edinburgh who have already walked out over a bitter pay dispute.
Sources told the Record council bosses and unions did not reach a deal at an emergency summit that could have ended strike action by the GMB, Unison and Unite trade unions. However, an agreement was reached by both sides to demand more funding from the Scottish Government.
Scots pensioner's ‘terrible homecoming’ after legs amputated as family left in despair
A Scots pensioner adjusting to life after having both his legs amputated has been left virtually housebound since leaving hospital.
Kenny Fisken, 76, was discharged from Perth Royal Infirmary after recovering from his latest operation. But his family claim they were not provided with a ramp to get his wheelchair into the house and a care package was not in place.
Unfortunately with his second amputation, the rented council home at Cluny Terrace in Letham he has shared with his wife Dawn and their 20 year-old disabled daughter has now been deemed unsuitable for his needs and the family has been told by Perth and Kinross Council they must move to other accommodation.
Man charged after eight youths hit by car in Glasgow street
A man has been charged after eight youths were struck by a car that lost control in Glasgow on Monday evening.
Emergency services raced to Provanmill Road around 5.40pm after the vehicle hit eight pedestrians.
Six male teenagers, aged between 13-17, were rushed to hospital for treatment to minor injures. Two boys, aged 12, did not require hospital treatment.
New Winter Fuel Payments include £300 boost and could see people of State Pension age get £600
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) recently updated online guidance for millions of older people to make it easier and quicker to find out who qualifies for a £300 one-off ‘Pensioner Cost of Living Payment’ on top of their annual Winter Fuel Payment.
In order to help people over State Pensions age manage energy bills this winter, more than eight million eligible households who receive the Winter Fuel Payment across the UK will receive the cash boost over November and December.
The DWP has now clarified the payment amounts for several household scenarios including where someone lives on their own, with a partner over or under 80, or whether wither of them receive other benefits.
