Single Mums Club
11.05pm, Channel 4
Hot on the heels of Cherry Healey’s illuminating BBC iPlayer doc about single motherhood, Channel 4 delves into the lives of those bringing up a baby alone. Cameras follow a group of Liverpool mothers who are flying solo, but banding together: Sarah is studying for a degree as well as working full-time, Mel is off benefits and Carmen is repairing her life after drug addiction. A doc that fights tabloid cliches in touching fashion. Hannah J Davies
Don’t Ask Me Ask Britain
8pm, ITV
Having shown with Five Gold Rings that playalong apps can modernise gameshows, ITV now tries a riskier version of the tactic with a panel game. Jonathan Ross and Frank Skinner lead teams second-guessing how the public will vote on moral and political dilemmas; it’s live, with host Alexander Armstrong reporting results gleaned from viewers prodding their devices at home. Will any questions test how xenophobic the audience is? Jack Seale
Peter Kay’s Car Share
9pm, BBC1
After debuting as a complete boxset on BBC iPlayer, season two of Peter Kay’s superb supermini-set sitcom continues its terrestrial run. John is looking forward to a day trip to Wigan for a full English with an old store manager pal under the pretext of dropping off some work bumf. Kayleigh, however, has other ideas, deftly pulling a sickie from her supermarket shift so they can both reap the benefits of a Dairylea Dunkers 2-for-1 days out offer. Graeme Virtue
Horizon: ADHD and Me With Rory Bremner
9pm, BBC2
Rory Bremner’s political impressions can be a pretty joyless place to spend time. Away from his traditional format, he’s a good deal more engaging. Easily distracted and impulsive, he has long suspected he might suffer from ADHD. Here, interspersed with vignettes about hyperactive kids, he investigates his own brain to see if he might be right. Bremner’s self-deprecation and charm make this an unexpectedly watchable film. John Robinson
Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Animals – India
9pm, ITV
Following his series exploring life at Battersea Dogs Home, Paul O’Grady travels to India to meet some more vulnerable members of the wider animal kingdom. This first of a two-part special sees the incoming Blind Date host visit a Delhi animal sanctuary, where he meets Lakshmi, an elephant encountering health-threatening weight problems. On a smaller scale, O’Grady also offers some simian physiotherapy to a baby monkey. Mark Gibbings-Jones
Selling Houses With Amanda Lamb
9pm, More4
Former estate agent and Scottish Widow (from the adverts, rather than the region/marital status) Amanda Lamb returns for another series in which eager-to-sell home owners are given a week and a grand to transform their houses. This week, she assists Pat and Bob from Portsmouth with modernising their living room, while giving Martyn and Karen some help transforming their living space in modernist Scandinavian style. Ben Arnold
Veep
10.10pm, Sky Atlantic
Although you suspect it may be coming to the end of its natural life, Veep remains a magnificently prickly porcupine of a political comedy, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s Selina Meyer so hideously self-obsessed she could almost be a real-life politician. This week, Selina is taken with the idea of founding a library to preserve her brief legacy. Donations are offered but with strings. Meanwhile, Jonah shows his charms on the dating circuit. Film choice
eXistenZ (David Cronenberg, 1999) 2.25am, Horror Channel
Cronenberg’s typically creepy, visceral thriller links the Videodrome theme – addictive players hooking into weird, mind-bending techno-games – with the fetishistic sexuality of Crash: just watch ’em insert those gadgets into their spines! In some sort of real world, games inventor Jennifer Jason Leigh is on the run with security man Jude Law, but with bone guns that spit human teeth instead of bullets. It’s a weird, thrilling trip where reality is a moot point. Paul Howlett
