Trump shares poll showing majority of Americans want the Iran War to end

  • President Donald Trump shared a poll from last month that found a majority of Americans back the end of his war in Iran, as the White House used the survey to urge voters to “trust in Trump.”
  • The White House also touted the poll Monday, framing the findings on social media as “TRUST IN TRUMP” and “Voters Overwhelmingly Support Iran Peace Deal.”
  • Critics pointed out that the poll was outdated, as the agreement it referenced has since collapsed, and hostilities between the U.S. and Iran have resumed, leading to American casualties.
  • Recent events include renewed bombings, retaliatory strikes, the deaths of three American service members, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
  • More recent polls, such as a Washington Post/Ipsos survey from July 8-13, show Trump's overall approval rating at 37%, with only 29% approving of his handling of the Iran conflict.
