Trump says he has someone who ‘would be great’ to replace Sen. Lindsey Graham

  • Trump stated he has a candidate in mind to fill the seat but declined to name them publicly at this time. "I have somebody that I think would be great," he said. "But I don't want to say it now because, you know, it's too soon with Lindsey. I don't want to even talk about anybody. But I do have somebody that I think is really good."
  • South Carolina law mandates a special primary election to fill the vacancy, with the filing period starting July 21.
  • Gov. Henry McMaster will nominate a temporary replacement, and potential candidates for the full term include Representatives Ralph Norman and Nancy Mace.
