Trump reacts to Knicks crowd booing him at NBA Finals: ‘It was amazing’

Donald Trump has reacted to being loudly booed by crowds during the national anthem at the NBA Finals in Madison Square Garden.

The US president received a wave of jeers when he appeared on the jumbotron during the singing of the national anthem ahead of the New York Knicks vs the San Antonio Spurs game on Monday (8 June).

Responding to the frosty reception, Trump told reporters he thought the crowd’s response was in fact “amazing” and that they were mostly cheering. “It was loud. And it was very enthusiastic.”

The night ended in disappointment for Mr Trump’s beloved Knicks, who lost 115-111 against the Spurs, ending their 13-game winning streak.
