Trump dismisses ‘profiting off presidency’ claims after reports he made over $1bn in crypto

Donald Trump has brushed off concerns he’s “profiting off presidency”.

“ I don't get involved in my personal finances, we have funds that run my money’, he told journalists on Wednesday (1 July).

His comments come after it was disclosed the president earned more than $1 billion from two cryptocurrency businesses that now outpace what he earns in revenue from his extensive property portfolio.

Trump said he’s “had a great career in business” that has brought in high earnings.

When asked by a reporter if he was “profiting off his presidency”, he brushed it off by saying, “ Well, you know why I'm profiting? 'Cause the stock market's going up. Everybody's profiting.”

“Do you have a 401k? How's your 401k done? It's about up 85%”, he added before heading off to North Dakota in his brand-new Air Force One for the first time, to Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.
