Trump Demands Pro Sports Team Return to 'Racist' Names: 'Our Great Indian People Want This'

President Donald Trump took to social media to demand that certain sports teams that changed their monikers in order to avoid offending minority groups change them back, stating that those minority groups were never in favor of the alterations in the first place.

The 47th President took to his social media platform, Truth Social, on Sunday to make his opinion known.

"The Washington 'Whatever's' should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this. Likewise, the Cleveland Indians, one of the six original baseball teams with a storied past. Our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen," Trump wrote.

"Their heritage and prestige is systematically being taken away from them. Times are different now than they were three or four years ago. We are a Country of passion and common sense. OWNERS, GET IT DONE!!!" he added.

Social media users took to online platforms to express disapproval towards the President's sentiments.

"Trump wants to bring back racial slurs in the name of "heritage" as if mocking Indigenous people was ever tradition worth defending. This isn't about sports or nostalgia. It's about inflaming culture wars to distract from his actual scandals, like Epstein, immunity cases, and failed leadership," wrote one user. "We don't need a president who fights harder for offensive team names than for justice."

"The United States will always have racists, and this is a clear example of a racist trying to deflect from their friendship with Epstein and the pedophiles controlling the world. Trumps name is in the Files," said another.

"Someone tell that tool they aren't Indians as they were never in or from India. What an embarrassment," noted a third.

"Many people are saying Trump next wants to bring back the N-gro League to baseball," a fourth stated.

There has been talk of the Commanders reverting to their old moniker after coach Dan Quinn elicited controversy by sporting the team's old logo on a shirt at a May 2024 press conference.

Trump also previously commented on the name of the Washington sports team, addressing the change in April of this year.

"You want me to make a controversial statement?" Trump said, via Sarah Fortinsky of TheHill.com. "I would. I wouldn't have changed the name. It just doesn't have the same, it doesn't have the same ring to me."

"But, you know, winning can make everything sound good," Trump said. "So if they win, all of a sudden the Commanders sounds good, but I wouldn't have changed the name."
