Trump announces 20% toll on Strait of Hormuz – what we know

  • Donald Trump announced the US would impose a 20 per cent toll on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz .
  • He declared the US as 'THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORUMZ STRAIT' and stated the toll would serve as reimbursement.
  • Trump also announced the 'reinstating THE IRANIAN BLOCKADE', preventing Iranian ships or customers from entering or leaving the strait.
  • These statements followed overnight attacks by Iran's Revolutionary Guard on facilities in Bahrain , Kuwait , Oman and Jordan .
  • The Iranian attacks were in response to earlier US military strikes on Iranian targets, casting doubt on a recent interim US-Iranian agreement.
