Troy Parrott unsure of Tottenham future but another Spurs striker is set to sign a new deal

Troy Parrott is unsure whether he has a future at Tottenham but teenage striker Jamie Donley is set to sign a new long-term deal with the club, football.london understands.

Spurs have a number of young forwards on their books at the moment, with Parrott and Dane Scarlett out on loan at Preston and Portsmouth respectively. They also signed 19-year-old Jude Soonsup-Bell from Chelsea in January, having brought in 17-year-old Will Lankshear from Sheffield United the previous summer. Lankshear was ruled out for the second half of this season with a knee problem that required surgery.

Then there is 18-year-old striker Donley, who has 11 goal involvements in 27 matches (five goals and six assists) this season despite having to show his versatility with plenty of appearances in midfield to help cover injuries.

Spurs have high hopes for Donley and football.london understands that the youngster is set to seal a new three-and-a-half-year deal with the club. The new contract for the teenager, who has played international youth football for both England and Northern Ireland, will also contain an option for a further year.

Donley's future looks to be set for the coming years at Tottenham and having trained at times with the first team he will be hoping to follow Harry Kane's route from the academy, but one player who is unsure of what comes next at Spurs is Parrott.

The Republic of Ireland international has got plenty of minutes under his belt this season at Preston around the knee injury suffered before the World Cup break but has just two goals from 22 Championship matches.

The 21-year-old has a deal at Spurs until 2025 and when he moved to Preston had plans to break into the first team set-up on his return and add to his four appearances for the club. However, with changes expected this summer in north London and Antonio Conte tipped to depart, Parrott is unsure what comes next for him.

“I'm not sure - I hope I have a future at Tottenham," he is quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner. "I've always said that's where I want to play, but we'll see what happens at the end of the season and then go into the summer and take it as it comes.

"I am not sure what is going to happen next year, so I am just focused on this last home-straight of the season."

On his injury woes with his knee problem, he added: "It's been tough at times because when I came back I just wanted to go straight away and get back into the team. But obviously, I had a talk with the manager and the physios and settle it down a bit.

"It was so that I could fully recover and get back up to match speed the right way and not rush straight back into it, so that was tough. I was out for a long time so I just wanted to come back and play straight away. Now, I'm 100 per cent so I can play 60, I can play 90, I can play whatever I'm asked to do.

"I was feeling it, not in terms of the injury, but in terms of sore legs and that. It was more sore than normal the next day so I just had to take a step back a little bit but now I'm fine. I'm ready to go now. I've had chances and I believe I'll get more before the season ends. It's just about putting them in the goal now."
