Troy Aikman Says He’s ’Not Crazy About ‘Tush Push,’ Doesn’t Want It Banned

The latest episode of SI Media With Jimmy Traina features an interview with the Monday Night Football broadcast crew, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

During the conversation, Aikman was asked whether he thought the controversial Tush Push play perfected by the Eagles should be banned.

“Well, I’m not crazy about the play,” Aikman said.

“It just seems like a mass of people and just whatever. It’s just not something that I’m that fond of. But to say now that it should be banned, I hate to say that just because the Eagles are the only team that’s really got it dialed in.

“Everyone else tries it, and it’s just they … you know it’s like jet motion. The Rams started doing it, and then everybody started doing it, but the Rams were still the only ones having any success with it. It’s like, people do it, but they don’t even really know what they’re doing or why they’re doing it.

“I don’t like the way it looks, but I was surprised quite honestly, I really thought that the league would get rid of it after this past year. And my guess is just because some guys have gotten hurt when the Giants tried it and now there’s more discussion about it, my guess is that this might be the last year we see it.”

Other topics covered with Buck and Aikman on SI Media With Jimmy Traina include their reaching a broadcasting milestone by surpassing John Madden and Pat Summerall as the longest-tenured broadcast crew in sports network history, where Buck stands with possibly calling MLB games, Tom Brady asking Aikman for broadcasting advice, Aikman’s philosophy when it comes to criticizing players and officials, how Aikman would bust Buck’s chops and much more.
