TRNSMT Ferris wheel evacuated after generator fire breaks out

MUSIC lovers were evacuated from the Ferris wheel at TRNSMT after a blaze broke out on Saturday night.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at Glasgow Green at around 10pm on July 12 after a fire started in the ride’s generator.

The flames were quickly extinguished by festival staff, and no injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two fire appliances were dispatched to tackle the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A small fire to the generator for the Ferris wheel was quickly extinguished by staff at Glasgow Green on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

"People on the wheel were removed until Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and confirmed it safe.

“There were no reports of any injuries.”

Meanwhile, a total of 10 people have been arrested since the music event began on Friday.

On opening night, six people were arrested and charged in connection with offences including police assault, hate crime, and outstanding warrants.

A further four arrests were made on Saturday, relating to alleged offences of breach of the peace, possession of a knife, drug offences, and breaching curfew.

Reports for each arrest will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The festival has seen tens of thousands of fans flock to Glasgow Green for a packed weekend of live performances, with acts including Biffy Clyro, Fontaines DC, 50 Cent, and Snow Patrol.
