TRNSMT 2022: Everything you need to know as excited punters flood into Glasgow Green

Eager TRNSMT revellers have arrived on the Glasgow Green site for the first day of the weekend long music bash.

The first punters were seen queuing at entrances across the site this morning ahead of the midday opening of the gates.

Kitti will be the first act up at the King Tut’s Stage from 12.15pm, before The Bootleg Beatles open up the Main Stage at 12.40pm.

Paolo Nutini will take to stage for his headline slot at 9.20pm as the Scots singer returns to the spotlight after an eight-year hiatus.

The Strokes will headline on Saturday, with Lewis Capaldi closing the festival on Sunday evening.

Other acts appearing on the star-studded line up include the likes of Chic and Nile Rodgers, Wolf Alice, Sam Fender, Years and Years and Nina Nesbitt.

Around 50,000 people are expected to descend on Glasgow Green on each of the days of the festival this weekend.

In a chat with the Daily Record earlier this week, TRNSMT boss Geoff Ellis expressed his excitement ahead of the festival opening today.

He said: “We’ve got a lot of great live music on the Friday. Bootleg Beatles will be starting of the festival, which I think will be a lot of fun as the first act to appear.

“We’ve also got Tom Grennan, Chic & Nile Rodgers, Sam Fender - who could be headlining in his own right - and the return of Paolo. I think Friday is going to be sensational.

“On Saturday, you’ve got The Strokes, Foals, then on Sunday you’ve got Lewis Capaldi and Wolf Alice.

“As well as those acts, you’ve got newer artists like Wet Leg, like Griff, like Dylan, Self Esteem, Callum Beattie - there’s all these new artists coming through that it’s great to have them all on the bill.”

Here is everything you need to know about the first day of TRNSMT.
