Tributes to 'top bloke' who died after being hit by a bus

Tributes have been paid to a "top bloke" who died after being hit by a bus.

Emergency services, including police, ambulance crews and fire service, rushed to the scene of a crash at around 3.55pm on Monday, November 7. They found a man, in his 60s, had been hit by a bus on Canal Street, near to the Bridgewater Complex, in Bootle.

He was rushed for treatment but was pronounced dead in hospital. Merseyside police confirmed that his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Officers are appealing for any information and would like to speak to anyone who witnesses the incident. They would also like to be sent any dashcam footage that could help their enquiries.

People on social media have shared tributes to the man, Ste Scott said: "RIP top bloke. Thoughts are with his family." Jay Scott commented: "RIP, our thoughts are with the family."

A third, Sara Jenkins added: "Absolutely heart breaking, thoughts are with all involved." While Margie Murphy said: "RIP, our thoughts are with his family and friends, from the Murphy's."

Pauline Connor commented: "God bless this gentleman. Condolences to his family and friends." And James Welsh said: "So sad and sorry may he rest in heavenly peace."

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from our Matrix Roads Policing Unit said: "Our sincere condolences go out to the family and we will be supporting them in the coming days after this tragic incident. Enquiries continue and we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or captured anything on dashcam or other devices.
