Tributes to 'kind and funny' man after body found in Firth of Forth

Tributes have been paid to a 'kind and funny' man whose body was pulled from the Firth of Forth in Fife.

Michael Sharpe, 22, from Grangemouth in Falkirk, was discovered at Burntisland on Friday March, 19.

Clothing belonging to the young man was found on the Forth Road Bridge days earlier, which sparked a massive search operation.

His family and friends say they're devastated and struggling to come to terms with their loss.

In a post on Facebook, one pal wrote: "It’s with great sadness I have the misfortune of losing not only my best friend but my brother.

"Michael Sharpe has been my closest friend since we were in Primary 3 and I’ve never known a more kind, funny, outgoing, and bubbly person.

"I’ve always looked up to Michael so the idea of losing someone like him really breaks my heart. I have so many amazing memories of Michael and he was the most important part of my childhood.

"There is a long road ahead for me with getting to terms with losing him but I’ll always look back and remember Michael as my best friend.

"He was always there for me to fall back on so losing someone like that is heartbreaking but Michael would want me to keep my chin up and I’m going to do my best. Here’s to you Michael. I love you."

Yesterday, cops confirmed the grim find was Michael.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers who were appealing for information to help identify the body of a young man that was recovered from the Firth of Forth at Burntisland on Friday, 19 March, have now concluded their enquiries.

"The body has been confirmed as that of 22-year-old Michael Sharpe from the Bonnybridge area.

"His family are devastated by their loss, Michael was a much loved family member, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
