Tributes to 'gentle spirit' Lynn McPaul after body found in search for missing Dundee woman

Heartbreaking tributes have been paid to Dundee woman Lynn McPaul after police confirmed a body had been found in the search for her.

Dundee Live revealed yesterday how the grim discovery was made in a patch of woodland close to Ninewells Hospital on Saturday 12 March.

The site is less than three miles from where Lynn was last seen on the Perth Road at 11.40pm on Sunday 23 January.

Police Scotland said that while a formal identification has yet to take place, the 45-year-old’s family had been informed of the tragic development.

In the last 24-hours, the city has been united in grief after the tragic news with dozens of locals paying their respects.

Many took to social media to pay their own heartbreaking tributes.

Ann McHugh wrote: “Aah Lynn, I am so so sorry you have left us, you were a lovely person, quiet and always out with your beautiful dog.

“Rest now my friend, be at peace and know your gentle spirit was liked by many.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Lynn's family and friends and of course her dog. Ann x”

Jaane Reid said: “So, so sorry to read this Thinking of her much loved daughters at this heartbreaking time xx”

Marion Gibb added: “So So sad had some laughs me and Lynn in the fish shop God Bless x”

While Amanda Carr Devlin wrote: “My heart is breaking for your family and kids lynn going miss you.”

Other residents also paid their respects.

Sheena Wellington said: “Such very sad news, thoughts with family and friends.”

Mike Smith added: “Very sad to read and thoughts are with all family and friends and to all emergency services involved in the search.”

While Lesley Falconer spoke for most people tin the community when she added: “Oh god this is the news we were all dreading to read. My thoughts r with her family x”

Lynn’s ‘bewildered’ family issued a statement soon after she vanished.

They described her as a “home-loving mum, with a tight-knit group of friends.”

They said she “is missed terribly by all her family and friends” and would always “go out of her way to help others.”

A spokesman for Police Scotland said on Thursday: “Around 3pm on Saturday, March 12, the body of a woman was found in woodland near to George Pirie Way, Dundee.

“Formal identification is still to take place, however, the family of missing person Lynn McPaul has been made aware.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
