TRIBUTES have poured in for Tartan Army member Donny Strathie, who has passed away in the United States at the age of 76.
Born in Camelon, Strathie was the captain of Bowhouse in the Falkirk Pool League and lived in Grangemouth all his life.
He died on Sunday, June 14 following Scotland's 1-0 victory against Haiti.
Now, there are plans for a minute's applause in the 76th minute of the Morocco game, which Strathie had a ticket for.
Referring to the campaign for a minute's silence, Strathie's daughter Cheryl posted: "Let’s see if we can all make this happen Dad."
One replied: "Sorry to hear about your dad Cheryl. He was a true gentleman and always spoke to us at the Falkirk games. Thinking of you and the rest of the family".
Brian Leishman, Labour MP for Alloa and Grangemouth, said: “I was incredibly saddened to learn about the death of Donny Strathie in Boston on Sunday.
“While I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, I know he was a true stalwart of the Tartan Army and a well-known face in the pool world locally as the captain of Bowhouse.
“I am sure that the Tartan Army will come together in unison to honour him during the 76th minute of the match.
“As a prominent member of the community, Donny will be sorely missed in Grangemouth.
“My thoughts are with Donny’s family, including his two daughters, at this difficult time.”
Strathie's niece also posted the tribute online writing: "Will forever be missed uncle Donny, hope your chatting everyone's ears off up there.
"Your last days were spent doing what you loved, following Scotland all the way to Boston and seeing them win. You wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, rest easy x."
