Tributes have been paid to a care worker with “the biggest smile” who died in a crash in west Wales.

Evan Leigh Callium Merton, who was aged 26, died on Sunday night after a one-car crash in Pembrokeshire.

The incident, involving a Volkswagen Golf, happened on the A4076 between Johnston and Milford Haven at around 8.40pm.

Paramedics and fire crews attended the scene of the crash, but police later confirmed that Mr Merton - the driver of the car - had died as a result of his injuries, while a female passenger was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Mr Merton’s family has paid tribute to him.

In a statement, the family said: “Evan was a loving son who was adored by his family and friends.

“He was an excellent care worker who will be missed by many. He had the biggest smile.”

Dyfed-Powys Police continue to appeal for information regarding the fatal incident.

They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the vehicle involved prior to the incident to contact the force on 101, quoting reference DPP/0016/11/01/2021/C.
