Tributes paid to John Groundwater after police recover body from Highland loch

Tributes have been paid to a tragic 39-year-old after police searching for a missing man in the Highlands found a body.

John Groundwater was reported missing from Kinlochleven on Thursday and officers found a body in the River Lochy on Saturday.

Formal identification has taken place and his family have been informed of the tragic news.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bilton said: "Our thoughts are with John's family and friends at this sad and difficult time.

"Thank you to everyone who shared our earlier appeal for information and assisted with enquiries".

Tributes have since flowed in from across the tight-knit community.

Louise Dunn wrote: "Heartbreaking news. Love and Light to John's family and friends. Sleep easy young man."

Mairi Beaton wrote: "Heartfelt condolences to everyone - am sure the fantastic community in Kinlochleven will rally round."
