Tributes paid after sudden death of 'kind, loving and gentle' 26-year-old

The grief-stricken family of a "loving and caring" young man have paid tribute to him after his sudden death.

William Green, from Swansea, died on Monday, December 13, to the shock of his friends and family. He was just 26.

A statement from Mr Green's mum, dad, brother and nephew Mason, said: "He was such a loving boy and we are just overwhelmed with all the lovely messages his friends have put about him. He was such a caring young man and would help them in any way he could."

Mr Green had a passion for art, and had studied at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he graduated with a BA Honours Fine Art degree.

He wanted to incorporate art into his everyday life, and his dream was to live off his own art one day. He had a passion for helping others less fortunate than himself, in particular the homeless community. In his final year at university, his work focused on the topic of homelessness, where he learnt more about people who found themselves in that situation through a series of interviews with those on the streets.

One of Mr Green's close friends, Chelsea Taylor, said: "Will was strong, courageous and full of life and laughter. His love for art embodied him and he will always be remembered as the most colourful and beautiful soul.

"The world has truly lost one of its greatest and I'm so blessed to have been able to call him my best friend."

A memorial page has been set up for Mr Green to raise funds for the charity Samaritans, and has so far raised almost £1,200. Many have left donations along with touching tributes, including Susanne David, who wrote: "I’m so saddened and shocked to hear the news of Will passing. I had the absolute pleasure of teaching him Art & Design. He was a kind, funny and gentle soul. The world has lost a beautiful spirit."

Penelope Barnes wrote: "Darling Will - a consistently fun, supportive, quick-witted and sweet soul. Thanks for watching endless Kardashians episodes with me and teaching me how to do my make-up. Glad we got to live together."

Grant Griffiths wrote: "Will, you were so kind and will be missed by so many and remembered with love. We had great times that I’ll always remember."

A celebration of Mr Green's life will be held at Llanelli Crematorium on January 4 at 12 noon. His family are asking for any flowers to be purchased from Lewis and Co Floral Design in Llansamlet.
