Family and friends are paying tribute to the two young mechanics who died while working on a broken-down bus on the Sunshine Coast.
Lleyton Bartlett, 22, from Baringa, and his colleague, Aaron Pitt, 25, from Currimundi, were dispatched by bus service company CDC Queensland, which is contracted to run services for Translink.
As the pair worked to repair the bus on Nambour-Connection Road at Woombye around 3:30pm, they were struck by a passing sedan.
The pair suffered critical injuries and were rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital but later died.
The young age of the two men has shocked the Sunshine Coast community, and tributes are appearing on social media.
Mr Bartlett's mother Lisa Bartlett posted a heartbreaking message on Facebook on Friday morning.
"Rest in peace my son," she wrote.
Ms Bartlett said her son 'Lleyt' would leave an enormous hole in the life of her younger son, Jai.
"Lleyt was not only Jai's big brother, but his best friend," she said.
"He did everything for him — he loved his brother unconditionally."
A message was also posted from the Maroochydore Hockey Club, where the young man had played as a junior, senior, and regional representative player.
"On behalf of the Maroochydore Hockey Club, our sincerest condolences go to the Bartlett family and friends after the passing of Lleyton in that tragic accident at Woombye," Michael Asmussen wrote.
'Best man for every occasion'
Daniel Friend has known Mr Bartlett since prep, and later became the one who encouraged him to play hockey.
He wrote that his mate was "undoubtedly the best man for every position or occasion" and "irreplaceable".
"But most importantly he loved you.
"You will be missed but a piece of him is left with every person he has ever touched. Forever and always bud."
Incident under investigation
A Translink spokesman also paid tribute to the two men, saying the company was "extremely saddened" about the incident.
"This is tragic news and we send our condolences to the families and staff involved," he said.
"The accident is being investigated by police and Translink will assist police with their investigation in any way we can."
The driver of the car, a 43-year-old woman from Warana, was not physically injured and is assisting police with their inquiries.
She returned a negative breath test and has also been tested for drugs.
