Trial of man accused of murdering his wife is delayed

The trial of a husband accused of murdering his wife has been postponed.

David Maggs, 70, is accused of murdering Linda Maggs, 74, who was found dead at their home in Sebastopol, near Pontypool, on February 6.

The defendant, of Lansdowne, has pleaded guilty to unlawfully killing his wife but denies murder.

A trial was due to take place at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, August 23, but at a pre-trial review hearing on Friday Judge Michael Fitton QC said this would no longer be possible due to an issue with counsel availability.

Another hearing has been set for September 3 in order for the judge and counsel to set a new trial date.
