Trial for deputy principal on sex offences

A school deputy principal has been committed to stand trial on historical child sexual offences. (AAP)

A Queensland primary school deputy principal has been committed to stand trial on historical child sexual offences.

Matthew John Keong, 48, was charged in November with three counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, one count of rape and one count of unlawful intercourse involving a child under 12.

Keong did not enter a plea at a brief committal hearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The alleged offences occurred between 1993 and 1997 while he was working as a teacher in southeast Queensland.

Keong's bail conditions include no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.

He is expected to face trial in Brisbane District Court.
