Trevor Noah says Hollywood wokeness won't last after Parasite dominates Oscars

Trevor Noah has said he’s thrilled after Parasite made Oscars history by becoming the first foreign language film to win Best Picture.

However, in the latest episode of The Daily Show, the late-night TV host admitted that he doubts Hollywood’s “wokeness” will last.

“What I did think was funny about the night was how many times someone did get on stage, give a speech about Hollywood needs diversity, and then everyone in the audience would clap,” Noah said, noting that the star-studded audience inside the Dolby Theatre was “all white people”.

The comedian went on to question the commitment of the film industry to continue championing diversity, referencing last year’s Green Book which was criticised for pushing racial stereotypes.

Trevor Noah congratulates Bong Joon-Ho and Parasite and asks ‘can we all forget about Green Book now?

“So then this year, they said ‘okay, we’re gonna give it to a Korean movie about class warfare!’”

According to Noah, next year’s Oscars will see the pendulum “swing back hard”. He ended the skit by joking that he will cash in on the reversal by releasing “an all-male reboot of Little Women”, adding: “It’s gonna crush.”
