Tree crushes Michigan home just one day after sale was agreed: ‘I can’t believe how bad it was’

A tree fell onto a house in Michigan during stormy weather just a day after it was sold to a new owner.

Martin Ender was selling his home in St Clair Shores, Michigan, but the day after he finalized the purchase with a new buyer, a nearby tree was knocked over and damaged the house.

“I can’t believe how bad it was. I just thought it was the awning, but it’s way beyond the awning,” Ender told WXYZ.

Ender said some of his neighbors claimed to have seen lightning hit the tree, while others told him high winds on the night of the incident brought it down.

No one was hurt, but it has left Ender in a difficult position.

“This is all I’ve seen is in the dark. I haven’t seen it in daylight, so I’ll have to come back in the morning and go through it and see what we can do,” he told the broadcaster.

Typically, home buyers have a short grace period for due diligence after agreeing to purchase a home, during which they can pull out of a sale.

Barring an agreement they made with the prospective home buyer, Ender will be left to carry the financial burden associated with repairs.
