Treating dairy industry wastewater in Sweden - video

The hi-tech dairy at Vimmerby expanded quickly with the help of on-site wastewater treatment

Vimmerby in southern Sweden is one of the country’s most enterprising regions, where diverse industries dot the landscape. One of the largest industries is Arla Foods, with its hi-tech plant which processes an average of 1.5m kg of milk daily.

With space limiting growth, Arla contacted Grundfos, who offered a Grundfos BioBooster treatment plant as a solution. The plant was built on the site, handling 400 cubic meters of wastewater daily, or almost 50% of the milk plant’s total wastewater flow.
