Travelodge looking to hire 400 new staff as budget chain continues expansion

Travelodge has announced plans to recruit 400 new staff over the summer at its hotels and head office.

The company said a mixture of full-time and part-time jobs and flexible hours were available, adding they were ideal for parents and students.

Jobs include managers, bar and cleaning staff and receptionists.

Katharine Gourley, Travelodge's director of people operations, said: "We offer parents flexible working hours to help them work around the school run, so they can raise their family and have a job that allows them to develop a career when the time is right for them.

"Students can work in a Travelodge whilst studying at university and then transfer to a different hotel when they return home in the holidays."

While the company has not said how much the different positions will be paid, Indeed.com has average pay ranges for some positions at the hotel chain, as reported by former workers. Indeed claims pay ranges from approximately £9.20 per hour for a porter to £10.42 per hour for a night team member.

An assistant hotel manager position in Liverpool was being advertised at £14.99 an hour in April.

The Travelodge group operates hotels in the UK, Ireland and Spain and annually welcomes 20 million business and leisure customers and it employs over 10,000 colleagues.

The company has been unveiling a host of new hotels including four new properties in the London borough of Hackney alone, adding to the eight existing hotels in the area.

In February it was announced that Travelodge had plans to launch a new hotel in Spain with the same bargain prices as its UK branch, by taking over the Villa de Coslada hotel in Madrid.

When the hotel is open for business, guests will be able to bag a family room for the night for £34.

The 78-room hotel features an on-site restaurant, bar and car-park and is Coslada’s main hotel, situated close to the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium, IFEMA Convention Center and the airport.

The hotel will be renamed Travelodge Madrid Coslada Aeropuerto and the group will invest approximately £0.88million in acquiring the lease and refurbishing the hotel.

Work to bring the Villa de Coslada up to Travlodge's 'budget-luxe' standard will begin this month. The hotel will remain open during this period with an official opening scheduled for this summer.

The budget hotel chain is also looking to open up more hotels in Barcelona, Madrid, Alicante, Bilbao, Granada, Malaga, Palma, Seville and Valencia.

If you're considering a last minute staycation during one of the bank holiday weekends we've got to look forward to this month, or at any other time over the next few months, the company's UK hotels have some pretty cheap deals.

Whether you're after a sunny beach getaway, a countryside retreat or maybe a break to one of the major cities including London, Manchester or Edinburgh - Travelodge has got thousands of rooms that are going for £38 or less.

The affordable hotel chain has over 580 hotels across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales including cities and 100s of UK locations.

To find the money-saving rooms, just head to 'best price finder' and search for where you want to go. It's worth noting that the majority of these bargain rooms tend to be Sunday to Thursday, but you can also find rooms for £38 or less on Friday and Saturday nights too.
