Spain in Ireland, the Spanish tourism board in Ireland, has shown off some of the most beautiful things to see and do in Spain that Dubliners travelling to the country often overlook.
While resorts like Salou and Torremolinos are great for a family getaway in the sun, there is a lot more to the country of Spain to hotels with pools and beaches lined with rentable sunbeds.
One attraction recommended to Irish tourists is the lavender fields in Brihuega, which turn an awe-inspiring purple at the beginning of the summer season.

Brihuega is a municipality located in the province of Guadalajara in the central part of the country.
Getting to Brihuega isn't too difficult from Dublin, with direct flights going from Dublin Airport to Madrid.
From Madrid Airport, it takes just 50 minutes to get to the lavender fields of Brihuega, or 70 minutes from the centre of Madrid.
Once you arrive, you discover vast fields of lavender stretching on for a number of enchanting kilometres. In fact, a festival takes place every July in Brihuega, when lavender is gathered and hung all around the village.
Visitors to the fields, teeming with never-ending purple, have said that the sight is something to behind while the smell is something to soak in.
Other blooming fields the Spanish tourism board in Ireland have suggested to visit include Sierra de Gredos Park in Avila, the courtyards of Cordoba and the poppy-red fields in Toledo.
