Travellers pitch up in Lenton Abbey Park off busy roundabout

A number of caravans have been pitched up in a popular park just outside Nottingham. The caravans are joined by several other vehicles, including a van, pictures show.

Travellers were seen in Lenton Abbey Park, which sits within Beeston's boundaries, on Saturday, April 23. A majority of the fields have been taken up by several caravans.

The park sits off Audley Drive and the A52 Derby Road, near to the Miller and Carter steakhouse on Priory Island. It is not known whether or not they are yet to be served an eviction notice.

Lenton Abbey Park is operated by Nottingham City Council. Typically community protection officers issue unauthorised encampments on council-owned land with a notice to leave within 24 hours. If they fail to comply with the notice, proceedings can be sent to the County Court whereby an order requiring them to leave immediately is granted.
