People who are affected by delayed TransPennine Express services are now able to claim their money back without filling out a lengthy and complicated form.
The new Automated Delay Repay (ADR) scheme is already in place and pings a notification to customers when a service they are booked on is delayed by half an hour or more.
Before now, customers have had to manually log a claim for each delayed train and wait for a response.
Now though, these claims will be automatically generated and customers will receive an email with a notification alerting them that they have a refund awaiting. It can then be claimed with the click of a button.
To be eligible for the instant compensation, customers will need to buy their tickets through the TransPennine Express app or website and opt in to receive email alerts about ADR.
Which tickets does it apply to?
The new ADR scheme applies to all advance tickets bought through the TransPennine Express app or website.
This means that ADR will only be triggered if you are on a delayed TransPennine Express service.
How long will the refund take to come through?
The claims are usually registered within two or three days, so you should have the money back in your account within 72 hours of clicking the 'claim compensation' button.
