Transfer news, rumours - LIVE: Arsenal to announce Lucas Terreira, Liverpool move on from Nabil Fekir plus Manchester United, Spurs, Chelsea and more

The Premier League’s summer transfer window is open with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United set to be busier than ever.

Liverpool enjoyed success in the Champions League this year and their quest to end their league title drought in 2019 will be bolstered by the arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. He will not be the last new face on Merseyside, however, with Monaco's Fabinho already in. Lyon's Nabil Fekir won't be joining him though after a dramatic U-turn. At United Jose Mourinho looks set to spend big again as he targets reinforcements in his bid to haul in record-breaking Manchester City next season. A new left-back and central midfield player are high on his list with a big money move for Real Madrid's Gareth Bale not out the question. Could Cristiano Ronaldo join him?

For the first time in over two decades Arsenal head into the offseason with a new manager at the helm. That man is former PSG boss Unai Emery after a stunning 11th hour change of heart at the Emirates and he already has one new signing and more on the way. Chelsea could well be looking for a new manager themselves but across London Mauricio Pochettino won't be leaving Tottenham Hotspur after signing a new five-year deal.

We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here so don't touch that dial.

Good morning and welcome to today's Independent transfer live blog.

Manchester City are Premier League champions and everyone else are getting set to spend, spend, spend to catch them.

Liverpool have made the biggest splash though in signing Fabinho from Monaco but he won't be the last new face at Anfield.

We'll bring you all the latest news on that plus all the done deals and breaking rumours throughout the day right here so don't touch that dial.

Without further ado, off we go.

The Gunners are desperate for a makeover in the centre of midfield and recruitment czar Sven Mislintat has been charged with finding diamonds in the rough that will help Arsenal return to the Champions League.

Sampdoria's Lucas Torreira is seen as one of Serie A’s most talented young midfielders, a modern playmaker who can win the ball back as well as distribute it.

And Arsenal closing in on a deal for him. Details here:

Anthony Martial’s agent has confirmed that his client wants to leave Manchester United this summer.

Here's what else has been happening this morning.

Unai Emery’s first competitive match in charge of Arsenal will be against Premier League champions Manchester City in what is the hardest start possible for Arsene Wenger’s successor.

The Premier League released the 2018/19 fixtures on Thursday morning, revealing the mouth-watering clash between what will be a new-look Arsenal side starting a new chapter and Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side of last season – who became the first team in English league history to secure 100 points.

As if Emery’s start was not hard enough, Arsenal will follow their opening weekend fixture at the Emirates Stadium with a trip to London rivals Chelsea – two games that could easily see Arsenal six points off the pace inside two rounds if last season’s form is anything to go by – with the Blues opening their campaign against Huddersfield Town.

Manchester City are close to landing Riyad Mahrez for a knockdown fee which would still break their transfer record, the Sun reports.

The Premier League champions are set to sign the Leicester playmaker for £60million, the paper claims.

City had hoped to secure a deal for Mahrez in January, but walked away when the costs topped £90million.

The lesser fee of £60million would still surpass the £57million City paid Athletic Bilbao for centre-back Aymeric Laporte earlier this year.
