Therefore, he could opt for number 16 which has been vacant ever since Rob Holding’s departure.

The England international has a release clause of around £68m in his contract at Selhurst Park and is also being linked with a move to the Gunners’ north London rivals Tottenham.

Who is Cristhian Mosquera?

17:59 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

It may come as a surprise to some, and little to others, but Arsenal are in the hunt for another centre-back.

Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his central defensive depth, and has reportedly identified Cristhian Mosquera as his desired target.

Currently, the Gunners boast William Saliba, Gabriel, Jakub Kiwior, Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Jurrien Timber, who can all play at the heart of defence.

But with Arteta’s preference to position White, Calafiori, Tomiyasu, and Timber as full-backs, his attentions have turned to adding another name to supplement his three specialists.

And so, he is drawn to Mosquera, the 20-year-old born to Colombian parents and currently plying his trade at Valencia.

"Just that when you come here, it's the top of football. You're going to see the people and everyone around the club – from, I don't know, food and training and from the kitchen and everything that's professional, the physios – that you're going to feel a completely different level, the highest level in football.

"And obviously that I should come. So, now here I am.”

Isak latest

15:42 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

David Ornstein, of The Athletic, has revealed Newcastle have no intention of selling Alexander Isak this summer amid links to Liverpool.

He said: "Newcastle have no intention of selling Isak whatsoever, and want to renew his contract. They’re in a strong position with over three years remaining on his current deal, as part of which he is already paid well.

“They’ll have no problem offering more, too - he’s at the centre of that ambitious Saudi-led project.

"From the player’s point of view, he has top level football secured with Newcastle’s qualification for next season’s Champions League, and he won the club their first trophy in a long time. He looks to be happy - always with a smile on his face.

"It could take around £150m just to start a conversation - there’s no suggestion of any developments despite recent rumours and reports. Liverpool may try, but that doesn’t mean they’ll succeed."

Kerkez warns Liverpool's rivals

14:04 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Milos Kerkez says Liverpool can only get “a lot better” next season after completing his transfer.

Kerkez has become the Reds’ third major signing of the summer, following Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz through the doors at Anfield.

If reports are to be believed that the Hungary international cost Liverpool in the region of £40m from Bournemouth, then that takes their spending to just under £200m.

Kerkez arrives on Merseyside on the back of an impressive season with the Cherries in which he featured in all 38 Premier League games, scoring twice and weighing in with six assists.

The 21-year-old will now aim to help Liverpool retain the league title and has issued an ominous warning to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Norgaard, who signed a two-year contract at Brentford in March, is set to join Arsenal in a deal worth around £9.3m plus add-ons as they take advantage of the uncertainty at Brentford caused by Thomas Frank's departure to Tottenham.

After opening their campaign with a 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC, the Blues lost 3-1 to Flamengo last Friday. However, they made sure of their progression to the last 16 by beating Tunisian outfit ES Tunis 3-0 on Wednesday.

By reaching the knockout stages, the Blues have earned more than £8.8m in prize money, and more is on offer if they make it past Benfica and advance further in the competition.

Elliott urged to leave Liverpool

Wednesday 25 June 2025 20:44 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Joe Cole says teams in Europe will be interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott this summer.

Elliott has already gone on record stating he will consider his future with the Premier League champions after seeing his game time decrease significantly under new head coach Arne Slot last season.

Already facing a tough battle to break into the team, Elliott’s chances of first-team football next season is likely to be further limited with Liverpool tying up a club-record £116m deal for attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

That said, the 22-year-old offered a reminder of his qualities with a stunning brace to help England U21s overcome Netherlands U21s and reach yet another European Championship final.

Speaking about Elliott’s performance on Channel 4 after the game, Cole believes the midfielder should leave Liverpool this summer, going as far as to map out a career path for the former Fulham youngster.

The report claims that Liverpool have asked their representatives to confirm Sporting’s asking price, thought to be €80m (£68.4m). No offer has yet been made.

Wednesday 25 June 2025 11:38 , Arthur Ferridge

According to calculations from the Liverpool Echo, a lack of business last summer, combined with helpful amortisation rules and a hefty payout of Champions League prize money, means they have plenty of overhead.

Chelsea and Liverpool to swoop for Fofana

Wednesday 25 June 2025 11:32 , Arthur Ferridge

Chelsea and Liverpool could look to expedite a bargain deal for Lyon winger Malick Fofana after the French club were provisionally relegated on Tuesday.

The seven-time Ligue 1 champions, co-owned by Crystal Palace shareholder John Textor, were demoted to Ligue 2 due to their sorry financial state.

The decision also opens the door for Chelsea and Liverpool to raid the Lyon squad. Both sides had shown an interest in left-footed winger Fofana, and could likely cut a favourable deal following Olympique’s relegation.

The two clubs have enquired as to his availability and were reportedly quoted a fee of £60m, but that price will likely fall as Lyon look to improve their rocky financial standing through player sales.

Wednesday 25 June 2025 10:19 , Arthur Ferridge

Out-of-favour Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has reportedly given the green light to a move to Fenerbahce.

He spent last season on loan at Chelsea and hoped to make the move permanent, but talks broke down as the player was unwilling to waver from his lofty wages.

Napoli had shown an interest in taking him on, providing the chance for him to reunite with former United teammate Scott McTominay, but also found his wages to be a stumbling block.

Sancho could now be set for a move to Turkey, though, having reportedly agreed personal terms with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

Bryan Mbeumo latest

Wednesday 25 June 2025 06:13 , Arthur Ferridge

Manchester United submitted a fresh bid for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo yesterday as they continue to overhaul Ruben Amorim’s ailing forward line.

Standard Sport understands the deal is worth around £60m. United initially submitted a bid earlier this month totalling £45m plus £10m in add-ons. However, that was rejected by Brentford, who are in a strong bargaining position, with the club holding an option to extend Mbeumo's contract, which expires in June 2026, by an additional year.

United have now come back with a second offer, which is closer to Brentford's valuation. The Bees want a fee close to the £62.5m that United paid Wolves for Matheus Cunha.

Brentford are hoping to negotiate easier add-ons from United, whose latest bid is worth £55m up front with a further £5m in add-ons, before sanctioning a deal for Mbeumo.
