Transfer latest on Nottingham Forest's pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Marcus McGuane

Nottingham Forest still hope to complete the signing of Barcelona midfielder Marcus McGuane.

But this is one deal where patience continues to be required.

The Reds have been working on a move for the 21-year-old for almost a month, with a view to him initially linking up with Chris Cohen’s Under-23s squad.

The switch has proved to be a complicated one, with McGuane having been on loan at Dutch side Telstar, who, it was claimed, wanted a “decent fee” from the Championship outfit if his spell was to be ended early.

Personal terms are understood to have been agreed between Forest and the player, but paperwork has delayed the move - although the vast majority of it is believed to have been completed.

It is thought the hold up is currently coming from the Barca end, and while it could still take time to go through, the Reds remain hopeful of adding McGuane to their ranks.

Yesterday, 17-year-old defender Morgan Sadler joined the club’s academy, penning his first professional contract until 2022, while attacker Adrian Galliani made the move earlier this month and striker Julian Larsson was recruited on deadline day.

McGuane came up through the ranks at Arsenal, before moving to Spain in 2018 and linking up with Barcelona’s B team.
